WFSF 2020 Update
"When we’re asked why the public hasn’t been warned, (most people don’t even know there are two completely different smoke alarm technologies), after more than twenty years of fighting this campaign, we can give an authoritative answer, i.e. “Because of over forty years of misinformation and the fear of litigation.”

Legislation - U.S.A.:
Ionization Alarms Unable to Pass New U.S. Smoke
Alarm Standard with Legitimate Smoldering Fire Test
Ionization technology eliminated with new (legitimate) edition of U.S.
smoke alarm standard, i.e. UL217 8th edition - effective date 30 June 2021
Smoke Alarms Get Smarter in 2021
Underwriters Laboratories (UL) is the world's largest standards testing organization.
After 30 June 2021, to be 'UL Certified' (as opposed to 'UL Listed'), all smoke alarms
must pass UL's new, smoldering fire tests - unlike previous, flawed smoldering fire
testing which allowed ionization alarms to be certified as safe - see 'UL Sued' below.
Australian & N.Z. Scientific Testing Exposes UL's Flawed Standard
Consumer New Zealand & Australian Government (CSIRO) scientific testing proves
that the existing ionization alarms in millions of homes around the world may fail to
alert occupants early enough to escape from smoldering fires.
